The School Board of Palm Beach County, Florida invites Certified General Contractors or Certified Building Contractors prequalified by the School Board pursuant to SREF Chapter 4.1 prior to the Bid Due Date to submit a Bid. To be eligible, the vendor must be prequalified for bonding capacity in the amount of the advertised Construction Budget or evidence bonding capacity in that amount prior to the Bid due date. The School District of Palm Beach County, Florida, will receive (via BidNet Direct @ www.bidnetdirect.com) sealed Bids for:

BIDS SHOULD BE BASED UPON THE FOLLOWING DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

Fire Alarm System Replacement and Installation Scope include, but is not limited to:

• Replace the existing fire alarm system with a new, voice-capable fire alarm system that is fully compliant with the most current editions of the Florida Building Code (FBC), Florida Fire Prevention Code (FFPC), NFPA 72, and all other applicable codes, standards, and specifications referenced in the construction documents.
• Install additional fire alarm devices in existing rooms and areas as necessary to meet current code requirements and the School District’s design and performance standards.
• Provide all required electrical power connections to support the new fire alarm system, in accordance with applicable codes, equipment manufacturer specifications, and engineering design requirements.
• Coordinate the demolition and replacement of the fire alarm system with school administration to minimize disruption to ongoing operations. The new system shall be installed and operated in parallel with the existing system during the transition phase to ensure uninterrupted life safety coverage throughout the construction period.

• Remove and dispose of all surface-mounted and embedded conduit, boxes, and related infrastructure associated with the existing fire alarm system as required.
• Patch, repair, or replace any disturbed architectural, structural, or civil finishes resulting from demolition, including walls, ceilings, floors, sidewalks, pavements, or landscaped areas.

• Trench and backfill where required for underground conduit installations, ensuring proper compaction and restoration of all affected surfaces to match existing conditions.
• Core drill or cut openings through walls, floors, or slabs as needed for conduit routing, with proper sealing and firestopping in compliance with applicable codes.
• Maintain all egress paths and site accessibility during construction activities.

• Restore all disturbed interior and exterior areas to pre-construction condition or better, including pavement, flooring, walls, ceilings, and landscaping.
• Ensure all fire alarm-related civil work is completed in compliance with local jurisdictional requirements and the School District’s construction standards.
• Coordinate with the school’s maintenance and facilities personnel for final walk-through and punch list resolution related to civil repairs.

• Examination of Site: It is recommended that bidders carefully inspect the work in place and verify the amount of work necessary to complete the job.
• Availability of Utilities: Water and electric are available in reasonable quantities at the site.
• Contractor Use of Premises: The Contractor will be working on a School Facility (Palm Beach County). Become familiar with and obey, security regulations.
• Area of Work: The Contractor shall be responsible for protecting materials stockpiled against weather, damage, theft, and other risk of loss.
• Clean Up: The Contractor shall keep the work area clean, free from accumulation of waste materials and comply with all federal, state and local regulations pertaining to the storage, transport and disposal of wastes.
• Storm Protection: Should warnings of wind of gale force or stronger be issued, the contractor shall take every practicable precaution to minimize danger to persons, the work and adjacent property. Precautions shall include, but not be limited to, closing all openings, removing all loose materials, tools and equipment from exposed locations, and removing or securing temporary work.
• Construction area or lay down area will need fencing. Any damage to sidewalks and landscaping will need to be repaired.

• BALANCE OF LINE: The “balance of line” shall include products and services that are not requested in this Invitation to Bid, but are within the scope of products and services available from the awardee(s). The School District reserves the right to add these products and services to the awarded items. Additions shall be submitted as they occur. Deletions and discontinued items shall be reported by bid awarded vendor as they occur.
• All materials should be based on the School District Specifications, which includes an approved equal.
• The Contractor shall be responsible for the repair or replacement, including but not limited to: all surfaces, building elements, fencing, utilities, onsite and offsite elements, sidewalks, grasses, plantings, irrigation, and hardscape disturbed by and/or damaged by construction activities.
• If required, the Contractor will remove and/or modify chain link fencing, including adding gate(s), as needed for site access. Openings in the fence shall be secured at the end of each workday. Fencing is to be restored to equal or better condition upon completion of the work.
• All work during the summer can be completed during the day or night per the SPA/ School approval. The schedule will still have to be worked out with the school as summer activities will be happening on-site. During the school year, work can be performed after the school day is completed but the schedule will have to be coordinated with school staff as there are activities at night. Holidays and weekends can be day or night work however, the Contractor will still need to coordinate with school staff & SPA  as activities are sometimes scheduled during these times.
• All work shall be performed in accordance with the Florida Building Code 2023, Florida Building Code 2023 8th ed, District Master Specifications, 2023, and the ANSI/AWWA C210‐84.
• Clean‐up and disposal of all debris generated during the Project. Final inspection to ensure compliance with building codes, manufacturer specifications, and project requirements.
