Police & Fire Department – Existing Furniture Move July 08, 2014
I. Introduction The City of Jacksonville is in need of moving services that would take place, possibly, in the months of August and September of this year. Existing furniture currently in the Police Department and Fire Station No.1 would be relocated to the New Center for Public Safety Building or nearby storage location.
The existing Police and Fire Department is approximately 26,000 sq. ft. and houses office furniture, training tables, seating and shelving. An additional warehouse has about 40 metal framed, particle board shelving units that would also need to be moved into the new building.
II. Proposals Due Interested bidders must sign this Request for Proposal and email it to cschubert@jacksonvillenc.gov at the Jacksonville Police Department located at 206 Marine Blvd, Jacksonville, NC 28540.
III. Insurance When work is to be performed on City premises, the successful bidder shall provide the City of Jacksonville Certificates of Insurance and endorsements with the following minimum levels of insurance coverage.
The Certificate of Insurance shall include: Comprehensive Automobile Liability, $1,000,000 Single Limit.
Comprehensive General Liability, $1,000,000 Single Limit.
Workmen’s Compensation Insurance as required by North Carolina Law.
The City of Jacksonville must be listed as an additional insured with respect to General Liability and Automobile Liability. A valid certificate of insurance must be in place during the life of the contract. Additionally, insurance carriers must be licensed to do business in the state of North Carolina.
IV. Qualifications The successful bidder must be properly licensed to do business in the City of Jacksonville. A business privilege license may be required to engage in business in the City of Jacksonville.
North Carolina General Statutes, specifically §160A-20.1(b), prohibit the City from entering into contracts with contractors and subcontractors who have not complied with the requirement of Article 2 of Chapter 64. The successful bidder will be required to submit an E-Verify Affidavit, prior to issuance of a purchase order. The City is exempt from Federal Excise Tax. Our Federal Tax Identification Number is 56-6000232. The City is not exempt from NC State & County Sales Tax. Such taxes shall be shown as a separate item on all invoices. V. Rights The Jacksonville City Council reserves the right to waive any informalities, to reject any or all bids, and to accept that Bid or Bids which appear to be in the Owner's best interest.
VI. Inspection All work shall be the subject of inspection by the City of Jacksonville at any time.
VII. Proposals to be Retained Proposals are to remain valid for a period not to exceed 90 days.

The following disputes are not subject to mediation: i.) A dispute seeking a non-monetary recovery; and ii.) A dispute seeking a monetary recovery of $15,000 or less.
