The work under this contract consists of providing all necessary labor, material and equipment required to construct and install a sewer connection from the existing leachate storage tank, located at the Compost and Education Center on the Grasslands Campus, to an existing on-site sewer manhole. At this time, leachate and stormwater runoff from the composting areas is being directed towards a 3,000-gallon leachate storage tank via multiple trench drains. The existing tank was originally designed to be pumped periodically but the tank does not appear to have adequate storage capacity, as frequent pumping is required. To minimize the frequency of pumping, a connection from the leachate storage tank to the on-site sanitary sewer system is required. Additionally, the Center currently has existing concrete block walls, which are located within the Compost and Education facility, used to c(Bid ontain the compost material at the active compost, feedstock mixing, and the feedstock storage areas which require lateral reinforcement to prevent their collapse. Over time, various concrete blocks have slid laterally in an irregular fashion due to the nature of the initial construction. The force applied to the walls upon the delivery of compost material is also believed to be contributing to this movement issue. (Bid range $ 500,000.00 to $550,000.00).
