Description

The Authority is seeking bids to either replace the existing raw water pump P-103 and rehabilitate and reuse portions of existing pump assembly, or completely replace the entire existing P-103 pump assembly. Bidders shall provide bids for both the Base Bid and the Bid Alternate
1. At its sole discretion, the Authority will select the alternate that provides the best value to the Hyde Park Water Treatment Facilities. The following section includes a brief description of the two
alternatives.
1.1 Base Bid – Replacement of raw water pump P-103 with rehabilitation and reuse of various pump assembly components:
A. Modify existing steel pump base plate and reinstall with new anchor bolts into existing concrete pump pad to align new lineshaft turbine pump
B. Rebuild existing stuffing box assembly with new bushing and graphite packing and recondition existing pump discharge head
C. Install new 1 ½” stainless steel stuffing box shaft
D. Install new lineshaft turbine pump to replace existing pump P-103
E. Install new 40 HP pump motor with new 1 ½” stainless steel motor head shaft
F. Install new 8” diameter ductile iron flanged column pipe
G. Install new stainless steel 1 ½” diameter lineshaft, reuse existing brass spiders with new rubber column bearings
H. Install new pump bowl assembly with stainless steel impellers and stainless steel bolts, to provide 1053 gpm at 119’ TDH
I. Painting and coating as required 000100-2
J. Additional tasks as required in the Contract Documents

1.2 Bid Alternate 1 – Complete Replacement of raw water pump P-103 assembly:
A. Install new complete lineshaft turbine pump assembly to replace existing P-103
B. Install new 40 HP motor with new 1 ½” stainless steel motor head shaft
C. Install new discharge head with stuffing box and 1 ½” stainless steel stuffing box shaft
D. Install new base plate onto existing concrete pump pad
E. Install new 8” diameter ductile iron flanged column pipe
F. Install new 1 ½” diameter lineshaft with new brass spiders with rubber column bearings
G. Install new pump bowl assembly with stainless steel impellers and stainless steel bolts, to provide 1053 gpm at 119’ TDH
H. Painting and coating as required

J. Additional tasks required in the Contract Documents

Interpretations or clarifications considered necessary by Engineer in response to such questions will be issued by Addenda mailed or delivered to all parties recorded by Engineer as having received the Bidding Documents. Questions received less than ten days prior to the date for opening of Bids may not be answered. Only questions answered by Addenda will be binding. Oral and other interpretations or clarifications will be without legal effect.
