Summary of Specifications:
The objective this study is to develop a Sustainable Transportation and Land Use Plan for the Route 209 Corridor in the Rondout and Espous Valleys that meets present and future mobility needs through multi-modal transportation and land use solutions. The Study shall provide for solutions that enhance sense of place, preserve environmental quality, ensure a regional identity and be supported by a broad base of stakeholders at the agency and community level.
Transportation modeling of various land use and transportation improvement scenarios will be performed. The study should provide a blueprint for a transportation future in the corridor that utilizes the relationship between land use and transportation to create a high quality sense of place, provides for an integrated modal choice capable of providing access to the transportation system for all, and identifies key project elements and strategies as well as those responsible for their implementation.
The Plan will address all transportation modes (highway, transit, airports, bicycle, pedestrian, freight, etc.) and techniques including transportation demand management, transportation system management, transportation operational efficiency, transportation safety, transportation system capacity, transportation system preservation, quality community and context sensitive design as well as sustainable local land use and regional transportation needs.
