Summary of Specifications:
The Scope of Services for this project consists of the following: A. Perform a detailed review and evaluation of the existing emergency sprinkler water distribution system, provide detailed drawings for additions to the existing system along with detailed drawings for the installation of the new sprinkler systems and affiliated pumps, risers and any other equipment needed for the installation. Included in this would be interior or exterior renovations, pipe runs and test ports for each zone, excavating, fire alarm system tie-ins for tamper and flow alarms and other construction needs. B. Prepare a complete set of detailed plans and specifications for each applicable Wicks trade for the installation of a sprinkler system that will bring the Valley View Centers buildings into full compliance as a 100% fully supervised automatic sprinkled long term care facility. All plans and designs will be sent to the New York State Department of Health for final approval prior to bidding or construction. C. Perform a detailed review and present an evaluation report of the current stand by water supply system (Storage Tanks) pertaining to the correct amount of water being present to run the system when completed. D. Engineering company will meet with local fire departments and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for local town and county approvals. E. Provide a detailed cost estimate and a time line of completion for the entire sprinkler project for a presentation to the County Executive and Legislature. F. Assist Valley View during the public bidding and bid review process for the project. Engineering firm must attend bid walk-thru for contractors and prepare any addendum(s) to contractor questions about the specifications. G. Engineering company to be available for any project “Request for Information” (RFI’s) submitted from the contractors of the project. Installation oversight, submittal approvals, RFI review, etc. H. Provide one on site meeting each week during the construction phases to answer any questions, documenting each visit with a Field Observation Report to be handed in to Valley View. I. Sprinkler system designs and plans shall meet all standards of the National Fire Protection Association including NFPA 13; NFPA 20; NFPA 22 as referenced in Life Safety 2000 edition; along with CMS-3191-F 42 CFR part 483. Also included are all applicable New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code, the New York State Energy Conservation and Construction Code and the New York State Department of Health Life Safety Codes for Health Care Occupancies. Plans and designs must also meet all local town and local building codes. S-3 J. Must have system certified by an appropriate sprinkler inspection company upon completion of the project.
