Summary of Specifications:
The City of Yonkers is seeking a Landscape Architect and designer familiar with the concepts of Green Infrastructure and who has experience designing active use public open spaces to help develop a vision and a conceptual design for the use of the Grassy Sprain Reservoir for active recreational purposes. Ridge Hill Village is a mixed-use development of over 2 million square feet that is under construction in the City of Yonkers on a largely vacan site between the Sprain Brook Parkway and the New York State Thruway. The City Council President engaged local residents through a series of community forums to look at transportation alternatives to Ridge Hill Village that would remove traffic from local roads. The preferred alternative was a direct connection to Ridge Hill Village to the Sprain Brook Parkway through a corner of Sprain Ridge Park, which is a Westchester County park. The City believes that this transportaion access to Ridge Hill Village can also be used to provide access to potential active recreational uses of the Grassy Sprain Reservoir.
