SCOPE OF WORK
THOMPSON / WASHINGTON / CHESTNUT TRAFFIC & CROSSWALK
SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
The successful company will be required to supply all labor, materials, and equipment to
perform the Thompson / Washington / Chestnut Traffic Signal Pole Foundation. The work shall
be done as shown on the contract drawings, specifications, and/or quoting documents and as
directed by the Engineering Department including, but not limited to the following:
I. Project Description:
The Thompson / Washington / Chestnut Traffic Signal Pole Foundation entails the installation
of two concrete foundations to support two traffic light poles.
II. Detailed Project Scope:
1. Provide all required pedestrian detour signs and safety barriers for the duration of the
job.
2. Demo and excavate areas indicated on drawings for installation of two new light pole
foundations as indicated on drawings.
3. Install the forms, rebar, and anchor bolts for new foundations as indicated on the
drawings and the pole manufacturer requirements. Making sure the final surface
elevation and all slopes, for each foundation, is correct.
4. The northeast signal pole has a proposed surface elevation of 486.83’ and the
southwest pole has a proposed surface elevation of 485.84’. The proposed elevations
are within the ‘Table of Signal Poles’ on sheet TSP-2 (Page 10).
5. Back fill around each foundation as specified on the drawings, or approved of by the
City of Watertown Engineer.
6. Provide a unit price (cost per ton) for the excavation and disposal of all petrol
contaminated soils. All petrol contaminated soils are to be disposed of following all
of New York State rules and laws. Contaminated soils are to be disposed of at a DEC
approved site, and must be handled by a DEC approved hauler. A copy of all disposal
receipts must be provided to the Owner. DANC will accept the materials. The soil
testing will be completed prior to the award of the contract, and is not part of the bid
package. This testing will allow the contractor to direct haul all contaminated soil to
an approved landfill.
7. Provide a lump sum price for the installation of both new foundations, with all works
to be completed by September 30th, 2017.
