Description

The Albany Police Department (APD) is a metropolitan police department with approximately 530 employees, consisting of both sworn and non-sworn personnel. The Community Police Review Board (CPRB or Board) is an independent review body overseen by the Albany Common Council that is charged with the authority to review and investigate complaints of misconduct by officers of the Albany Police Department. Its goals are to improve communication between the Police Department and the community, to increase police accountability and credibility with the public and to create a complaint review process that is free from bias and informed of actual police practices. Board members are appointed by the Mayor and Common Council.

The City of Albany Common Council seeks to retain Counsel (Outside Counsel) to provide legal advice and representation on an as-needed basis in situations in which Corporation Counsel’s office cannot provide representation because it (1) does not have the requisite expertise to handle or advise on the matter; (2) does not have the requisite personnel to handle or advise on the matter; or (3) has an actual conflict of interest.
