GENERAL: Materials in this section shall meet the applicable requirements of; NYSDOT Section 620 – Bank and Channel Protection, NYSDOT Section 733-21 – Stone Filling, and NYSDOT Section 733-22 Riprap, unless otherwise indicated, and shall be furnished in the sizes or combination of sizes indicated or ordered by the Owner. BID PRICES: Bidders must provide bid prices for product pickup at the vendor’s plant and for product delivery to any point within Chemung County. MATERIALS:a.Bank & Channel Protection (Stackable)
i.Heavy Riprap (Stackable): Shall consist of stones at least fifty percent (50%), by weight, weighing in excess of 2000 lbs. each, and the remainder of the stones shall weigh from 1000-lbs to 2000-lbs each. The thickness of the stones shall be approximately 12-inches. (Custom Chemung County Spec.)ii.Extra Heavy Riprap (Stackable): Shall consist of stones at least eighty percent (80%), by weight, weighing in excess of 5000-lbs each, and the remaining twenty percent (20%) of stones shall weigh from 1500- lbs. to 5000-lbs each. The thickness of the stones shall be from 18 to 24-inches. (NYSDOT 620.06010002)iii.Heavy Riprap (Stackable) and Extra Heavy Riprap (Stackable):The stones shall be flat on two sides, to allow stones to be stacked, and shall consist of stone shaped as nearly as practicable in the form of right rectangular prisms which may be fitted and placed on stream banks or in channels to provide protection against erosion.iv.The materials provided for use as heavy riprap (Custom Chemung County Spec) or extra heavy riprap (NYSDOT Spec) will be accepted or rejected based on a visual examination of the material by the Owner. Stone Filling (Fine, Light, Medium, Heavy): Shall consist of well graded stone suitable for placement as protective material on streambanks, in channels and elsewhere. Gradation and size of materials provided shall be as specified in Figures 733-21A and 733-21B and will be accepted or rejected based on a visual examination of material by the Owner.
