Summary of Specifications:
The intent of the Broome County High Hazard Pipeline Inventory is to facilitate an understanding of the risk of pipeline exposure due to natural force damage (flooding and stream channel erosion) within the County's stream corridors. Risk is defined as the product of probability of a pipeline becoming exposed from a flood and the consequence of a pipeline rupture. 

Broome County has experienced multiple 100-year return interval floods in the last 10 years, leading to erosion of the stream banks and stream beds in many of the small and large streams. Broome County is aware of 58 intersections between pipelines and streams that supply drinking water to our communities provide irrigation for agricultural enterprises, foster recreational opportunities and enhance our scenic beauty.
