Summary of Specifications:
INTRODUCTION: Through this Request for Bids (RFB), the Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority) hereby invites businesses that meet the qualifications set forth herein to submit Bids for construction services to perform asphalt full depth reclamation and paving, site utility installations, interior bus shelter modifications and site electrical work at the South Employee Parking Lot at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). This RFB includes Technical Specifications (Attachment C) and Construction Documents (Attachment D) that identify technical requirements of the project. GENERAL INFORMATION: In August 2002, the Public Airport Authority Act, MCL 259.108-259.125 (“Act 90”) transferred the operational jurisdiction of the airport from the County of Wayne, Michigan to the Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority). The Airport Authority became responsible for the management and operation of the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and Willow Run Airport (YIP), including the power to plan, promote, extend, maintain, acquire, purchase, construct, improve, repair, enlarge and operate both airports. The Airport Authority oversees the operation at DTW and YIP Airports including all parking, roadway, bridge, and other landside facilities. As one of the largest domestic and international airports in the United States, DTW has a major role in the future of southeast Michigan and the national airport system. YIP serves as a reliever airport, primarily serving cargo and general aviation activity. The Airport Authority operates the South Employee Parking Lot at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport for use by the airport AOA and Non-AOA employees. This project will improve the conditions of the existing parking lot and functionality of the employee bus system as well as add restroom facilities to the existing bus shelters.
