Summary of Specifications:
Through this Request for Bids (RFB), the Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority) hereby invites businesses that meet the qualifications set forth herein to submit bids to provide as needed corrective and emergency roof repair services for various roof types on buildings located at both Detroit Metropolitan Airport (Metro Airport) and Willow Run Airport (Willow Run). Since this contract is for as needed services as circumstances require, the Airport Authority is currently unable to identify any repairs known at this time, or any future repairs which may be required. The resulting contract is intended to provide on call services for corrective and emergency roof repairs as determined by the Airport Authority as the need arises. Conversely, the Airport Authority is in the process of developing a preventative maintenance program for roofs. As such, is not intended for the resulting contract to be utilized as part of the preventative maintenance program. The successful Bidder (Contractor) will be required to perform either corrective or emergency repairs on buildings maintained by the Airport Authority. At this time, there are approximately 98 buildings located at Metro Airport and 8 buildings at Willow Run Airport for which the Airport Authority is responsible for maintaining. However, the number of buildings the Airport Authority is responsible for maintaining changes as circumstances require. The buildings vary in both size and type. The roof types include, but are not limited to the following: • flat and pitched roofs; • gravel-surfaced built up [4 Ply Asphalt, 4 Ply Coal Tar Pitch], • modified [Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS), Atactic Polypropylene (APP)], or single ply membrane roofing [Poly vinyl Chloride (PVC)], Ethylene propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM)], • base flashing • metal • concrete coatings • other roof types not specifically identified, but which are maintained by the Airport Authority The roofs materials required will range from, but are not limited to: • sheet metal • hot tar • rubber membrane • shingle • vinyl • other roofing materials not specifically identified but which are required to perform the roofing repairs for the type of buildings maintained by the Airport Authority
