RFP: The Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority) is preparing to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) in June 2025 for the purchase and installation of a multi-purpose Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Facility (ARFF) training simulator for the Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority). The Work will include design, fabrication, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning the simulator.
The training simulator will consist of two major components. A Spill Fire Trainer (SFT) and a mock-up of an aircraft also known as a Specialized Aircraft Fire Trainer (SAFT). The SFT simulates large-scale fuel fires and is used to train and certify firefighters in the management, control and extinguishment of those types of fire scenarios. The SAFT provides interior and exterior aircraft fires for firefighters to practice scenarios and maintain rescue firefighting skills.
Additionally, the awarded vendor will be responsible to expedite a design bridging document to allow for the completion of design of the remainder of the site improvements and preparation of the new facility by the Airport Authority, by means of the below noted future Request for Bid.
RFB: The Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority) is preparing to issue a Request for Bids (RFB) for the demolition of the existing ARFF training simulator, burn pit area, control trailer, implementation of site improvements – concrete/asphalt pad, pole lighting, and construction of an approximately 5,000sf new training facility outfitted with an apparatus bay, control room, training room, restrooms, CCTV system, AV integrated training room, etc.
