Objectives for Natural Resource Management of park lands, OCPRC Staff have developed a program for managing the economic and ecological impacts of nuisance wildlife on the built facilities, structures, recreational amenities, and natural areas that comprise Oakland County parklands. Historically in-house efforts to control and mitigate property and natural area damage inflicted by nuisance wildlife activities have been As part of the Oakland County Park & Recreation Commission’s (OCPRC) Strategic Planning augmented with contracted services. Contracted assistance has included, but is not limited to: removal of nuisance wildlife from built structures and adjacent natural areas in instances when the presence or activity of wildlife poses a threat to public health and safety, and / or is inflicting or threatens to inflict economic damage to built infrastructure. Nuisance wildlife may include: small mammals, rodents, and birds, beaver, muskrat, raccoon, skunk, groundhog, bats, squirrels, geese, swans, pigeons, porcupines, opossum, coyote, moles, rabbits, fox, feral hogs, stinging insects, and snakes. OCPRC seeks to secure one or more vendors that can (collectively) provide a variety of nuisance wildlife management services that augment and complement in-house control efforts as needed. OCPRC anticipates awarding the successful bidder(s) a 1 year, renewable contract up to 3 years.
