Macomb County is seeking multiple kitchen partners/contractors to meet its mission of promoting independence among its senior residents and addressing food insecurity and isolation. 24% of Macomb County Meals on Wheels participants live in poverty and 1 in 4 seniors live alone. Kitchen contractors/vendors are key partners in addressing these inequities.
The scope of the work is to provide a nutritious hot lunch time meal to participants – seniors that are homebound, or those in a community setting. With 20+ sites across the county and 8-10 paid transportation routes, Macomb County serves over 8,000 participants, and over 500,000 meals in a program year.
Successful kitchen partners will prepare and transport meals, in bulk, or packaged, to the program sites at the predetermined delivery schedule, following an approved menu as set by program dietician with quarterly input from partners, and meeting all licensing and food safety standards
