The City of Southfield is considering the possibility of contracting with a private security company for jail lockup services. In general, the prospective company will be required to handle the booking and lodging of all Southfield arrests, as well as preparing prisoners for court hearings or release. The facility will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week; however, each individual prisoner can be held for no more than 72 hours.
The successful contractor will be required to enter into a contract with, provide insurance acceptable to the City of Southfield, and comply with the Living Wage Ordinance. Copies of these requirements have been included for your review.
The contract term shall be a three-year period. The City will have the option to extend for two additional one-year periods, at the same terms and conditions, except for price.
