The City of East Lansing Downtown Management Board (DMB) is seeking professional services for the installation and takedown of the DMB’s downtown holiday decorations. Installation will involve wrapping 18 feet of garland around 28 historic lampposts and 36 feet of garland around 18 streetlights. A red bow will also be installed at the top of each lamppost and streetlight.
Additionally, decorative holiday lights will be wrapped around 7 trees at Bill Sharp Park, located on the northeast corner of Abbot Road and Albert Avenue (110 Abbot Road, East Lansing, MI 48823), as well as 2 small trees in the 500 Block Pedestrian Alleyway, located just east of Campbell’s Market Basket (547 E. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing, MI 48823). There are a total of 34 strands of decorative holiday lights, each of which is approximately 25 feet long.
All decorations are owned by the Downtown Management Board and currently stored downtown for easy access by the selected contractor. Installation and takedown of the garland and bow on streetlights will require the use of a bucket truck or other lift device that can reach approximately 30 feet. During installation, the contractor must abide by all traffic control requirements, including having a follow truck and an arrow board behind the bucket truck (follow truck and arrow board to be provided by the City of East Lansing).
The selected contractor must agree to install all garland, bows, and lighting mechanisms in downtown East Lansing, and have all lighting units operational no later than Wednesday, November 19, 2025. All garland, bows, and lighting mechanisms must then be removed by the contractor no earlier than Monday, January 5, 2026, and no later than Friday, January 9, 2026.
