Scope of Work
Provide proposal with description and pricing to provide a design-build project for
site/civil, geotechnical investigation, structural, and electrical infrastructure per
manufacturer requirements and as outlined below.
The City of Burton is planning to replace the existing underground fuel storage tanks at
the DPW and Police Station with above ground fuel tanks (AST). Removal and
environmental remediation will be required and is to be included in the bid. The
proposed AST at the DPW will be located in the rear of the building, between existing
pole barns just east of the existing diesel AST as shown on Appendix A. The AST for
the Police Station will be located in the same location as the existing underground tank
which is toward the south end of the main parking lot as shown on Appendix A.
Removal of the Underground Gasoline Storage Tank at the DPW (4093 Manor Dr) will
involve the following:
Removal of a 10,000-gallon steel gasoline underground storage tank. Tank is to
be removed from the ground, cleaned and property disposed of off-site.
Approximately 60 feet of product piping between the UST and dispenser will be
emptied and removed from the ground and disposed of off-site.
One dispenser will be removed and disposed of off-site.
The city will empty the tank, but there might still be some gasoline left in the tank
that will need to be removed and returned to the City of Burton. This might
amount to approximately 110 gallons.
No soil will be removed from the site.
Cost should include; removal and cleaning of UST, removal of product piping and
dispenser, backfill and compaction of with clean sand to grade.
Bidders must demonstrate compliance with OSHA Hazardous Waste Site
Operations certification and appropriate $1,000,000 pollution liability insurance
policy.
Removal of the Underground Gasoline Storage Tank at the Police Station (4090 Manor
Dr) will involve the following:
Removal of a 2,000-gallon steel gasoline underground storage tank. Tank is to be
removed from the ground, cleaned and property disposed of off-site.
The city will empty the tank, but there might still be some gasoline left in the tank
that will need to be removed and returned to the City of Burton. This might
amount to approximately 110 gallons.
Note, the UST removal will be done in conjunction with soil excavation for
environmental purposes.
Soil excavation and backfill must be invoiced separately. Specifications for soil
excavation and backfill are as follows:
Estimated excavation and disposal of approximately 450 tons of gasolineimpacted
soil under the guidance of the city’s environmental consultant. Cost
should include; excavation, transportation of soil to Brent Run Landfill, landfill
disposal fees, and backfill and compaction of with clean sand.
