Summary of Specifications:
Sealed proposals endorsed “Parking Structure Signing, Contract #8-09(PK)” will be received from contractors by the City of Birmingham, at the office of the City Clerk, located at 151 Martin Street, Birmingham, Michigan, until 2:00 p.m., on Monday, February 16, 2009. The proposals will be publicly read aloud at that time. The work will involve the fabrication and installation of approximately 225 custom made MDOT quality traffic control signs to advise the general public of a new revenue control system in five parking structures located in downtown Birmingham. The signs shall have text messages on top of a custom color print background, and shall be designed and anchored to withstand outside weather conditions without fading or peeling for a design life of ten years. Specifications for the project may be obtained from the City’s Engineering Department, (248) 530-1840, located on the second floor of City Hall, beginning Monday, February 2, 2009, for a non-refundable fee of $25.00 if picked up directly, or $35.00 if mailed. Plans and specifications may also be sent in pdf format by email or mailed on disc for $10.00. Payment shall be in the form of a check made payable to the City of Birmingham, which must be received prior to mailing of plans and specifications. Overnight delivery will be accommodated provided arrangements are made for the shipping cost to be paid through the purchaser’s account. The successful bidder shall be required to post bonds, and to comply with the contract requirements of the City Charter. Bids are firm, and no bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days after opening of bids. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bid proposals, to waive any irregularity in any of the bid proposals submitted, and to accept any proposal which it shall deem to be the most favorable to the interest of the City.
