The Charter Township of Orion (population of approximately 39,421 residents) located in northern Oakland County in southeast Michigan is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking proposals from qualified firms to conduct and prepare a redesign study and operation plan and budget for the Orion Township Recreation Center. Orion Township purchased the Great Lakes Athletic Club in December 2023. The Athletic Club is a 79,000 SF facility built in 2003 that includes indoor athletic courts, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness facilities, locker rooms, studio spaces, office functions, café, and day spa. The project goal Is to convert the private club into an enhanced public recreation center for residents of Orion Township and the surrounding area.
