The proposed project must meet the common standards for the latest bike trail design principles and green technology (where feasible) to accommodate not only beginning, and intermediate bike riders to develop and expand a variety of experience and skills. It should encourage progressive skill building at all levels. Design shall be naturally integrated with the surrounding environment that includes natural vegetation, trees and plantings, wildlife habitats, and common elements of a park setting.
Proposals will be evaluated based on not only costs, but also previous and relevant experience, quality of past projects, quality of materials proposed and reasonable design features within the expected project budget.
A qualified contractor must demonstrate experience in certain trail concepts. Desired contractor must demonstrate through resume, work experience and references extensive knowledge and suitable equipment and crew to design and build a sustainable, natural surface, multi-use, bike-optimized trail and include detailed plans for construction tread and features.
The desire is to have a designed and constructed trail made with natural materials and some wood trails or crossings as deemed appropriate due to soil and drainage conditions and seasonal needs.
Therefore, the following guidance is offered:
Design of approximately 1.5 miles minimum of trail with a variety of features.
