Description

This project will increase the size of the existing off-exhibit giraffe yard adjacent to the Antelope House. It will involve the demolition and removal of some shotcrete boulders that partially enclose the current yard and adding fence in line with an existing fence. The new steel fence will be set in concrete. There is one large double gate and three smaller training panels, all manually operated with padlock latches. The side of the fence facing the public will screen the off-exhibit space with split-log screen panels similar to existing.

An optional site visit will be held at 9:00 a.m. CST on September 30, 2025. Please park near the World's Fair Pavillion Restrooms in Forest Park and meet outside Gate 9 for entry. We will have access to the giraffe habitat and off-exhibit yard since this area is not easily viewed from the public path.
