The Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners is re-soliciting Statements of Qualifications from interested firms detailing past performance, technical and resource qualifications to represent the County and provide various services during design, bid, and construction phases to expand the capacity of the terminal, specifically Gate B4 Hold Room at the Destin – Ft Walton Beach Airport (VPS).
The scope of this project consists of design, grant, bid phase services, and construction phase services for the expansion of the terminal at the Destin—Fort Walton Beach Airport. The B-concourse pier addition consists of a roughly 17,000 square foot multi-story expansion (8,500 SF each upper and lower level) to the Phase 2 addition (constructed in 2011) to the existing concourse pier. The new addition will expand the hold room area to the east with the addition of one passenger boarding bridge dedicated for Gate B-4, male and female restrooms, a potential shell space for future concessions, a first floor airport or airlines operations space, an additional stair tower, new hydraulic elevator, and permanent ground control tower on the roof (third level) for future ramp control operations. The facility will include several aspects of typical terminal systems including expansion of security system features such as cameras and access controls, airline gate check-in counters, passenger seating, and all building envelope infrastructure to support passengers and aircraft operations. Environmental actions such as an Environmental Analysis (EA) and storm water have already been accounted for and will not be large components of the scope, although an updated CATEX may be required along with airspace analysis coordination for permanent and temporary structures along with the CSPP.
