The Estes Park Women’s Monument project (which is sanctioned by the Town of Estes Park and the Estes Park Parks Advisory Board), is seeking artist qualifications from potential candidates in a competition to be the chosen artist for the creation of an Estes Park Women’s Monument. Ultimately, the chosen artist will create and install the artwork in a prominent downtown Estes Park location. The goal of this project is to honor real historic women of Estes Park in the form a downtown monument. The chosen artist will need to express their own creativity in meeting our basic monument requirements. Designs should be original to the artist or of the artist’s original style. The basic requirements are that the piece includes a life-size, representational bronze statue of actual Estes Park Woman, Eleanor Hondius, along with her story. Other elements of the monument must be able to contain and showcase stories about many different Estes Park Women other than the one highlighted in the main element. The Monument should be diverse, inspirational and multigenerational. The Monument will be installed in a park-like setting in a prominent downtown Estes Park location. Specific wording of stories will be approved by the Estes Park Women’s MonumentPproject Team. Designs must be appropriate for all ages and the project will not accept any designs that include logos, copyrighted or trademarked images, advertisements, political, commercial, religious, sexual symbols, themes or messages. After completion, the Monument will be donated to the Town of Estes Park and maintained by the Town of Estes Park.
