IFB 2511-CH - Mesa County Solid Waste Division - Heavy Duty, Self-Priming Pump with Skid Mount

Mesa County owns and operates a municipal solid waste landfill and an organic materials composting facility. Access to water is key in both operations. Mesa County has water rights that allow us to fill a 200,000-gallon freshwater pond with water from the Gunnison River. Water from the Gunnison is pumped to the pond approximately 4,550 feet with an elevation gain of 315 feet. Each year, from April to October, we pull between two and four million gallons of water from the Gunnison. Our peak demand is June through August when we fill the freshwater pond every 2-3 days.
