23110 - Asbestos Abatement for Reed Library

The project will provide a controlled demolition and asbestos abatement within the existing
Reed Library building in conjunction with the replacement of heating and cooling coils in the air
handler unit (AHU) for that building. Scope of services to be provided are defined within the
detailed project specifications. Abatement of asbestos containing materials (ACM) will require
two (2) separate abatements; the first abatement will remove ACM pipe insulation in preparation
for plumbers to pull back piping to and from the AHU and a second abatement to remove
existing coil assemblies that have been documented as containing ACM. In between the two
abatement steps, Trane US. will have plumbing subcontractors remove piping to facilitate the
removal of the ACM coils in the second abatement step.
