Summary of Specifications:
The Department of Public Works of Douglas County Government, hereinafter referred to as the County, respectfully requests bids from responsible qualified firms for the provision of the purchase of Hot Bituminous Asphalt, as specified, for use by the Road and Bridge Division. All quantities stated are estimates of use. The actual purchased quantities will depend on maintenance demands during 2009. Prices bid shall be good through December 31, 2009 regardless of the quantity purchased. Bidders will submit to Douglas County a material test (dated 2009 and performed by an independent laboratory) certifying that the material to be used meets the stated specifications upon the request of the County. All materials are subject to quality testing throughout the term of the contract. Should the materials not meet the specifications stated herein, the vendor shall remedy the problem to the satisfaction of the County (to include, but not limited to the replacement of substandard materials and bearing the expense of removing and replacing materials that have already been placed).
The quantities provided are for IFB purposes only and shall not be construed as guaranteed purchase quantities. The actual quantities to be purchased shall be based on the County’s need in the performance of maintenance activity. The County reserves the option to increase or decrease the quantities to be purchased through each contract period.
The award of this IFB will be based upon haul distance coupled with the material per ton cost.
The IFB may be awarded to one or more vendors as determined to be in the County’s best interest.
