Colorado Mountain College’s Facilities Department CO is requesting quotes from licensed, qualified Contractors to furnish all equipment, materials, supplies, labor to install auto-cleaning, needlepoint bipolar ionization equipment.
SPECIFICATIONS
• The needlepoint bipolar ionization equipment will be installed in HVAC fan coil units and small furnace units.
• The needlepoint bipolar equipment must be UL 867 certified and UL 2998 certified. Please include this information in your bid.
• This project requires needlepoint bipolar ionization equipment sized for 2400 CFM HVAC equipment and 4800 CFM HVAC equipment.
• A list of the required equipment is below for each location.
• If the needlepoint bipolar equipment is not design for 24-volt input power (3 phase equipment or 277v single phase equipment), the contractor is responsible for supplying a properly sized transformer for each HVAC equipment.
• The needlepoint bipolar ionization equipment will require a set of dry contacts (alarm output) that will be wired to the HVAC equipment Building Automation System controller.
• Detail drawings are attached for wiring to the BAS controllers.
• Each needlepoint bipolar ionization system must be installed to the manufacture installation, operation & maintenance manual specs.
• The needlepoint bipolar ionization equipment will be installed in the following locations:
o CMC Aspen, 255 Sage Way, Aspen, CO. 81611
o CMC Breckenridge, 107 Denison Placer Road, Breckenridge, CO. 80424
o CMC Carbondale, 690 Colorado Ave, Carbondale, CO. 81623
o CMC Central Services, 802 Grand Avenue, Glenwood Springs, CO. 81601
o CMC Glenwood Springs, 1402 Blake Avenue, Glenwood Springs, CO. 81601
o CMC Rifle, 3695 Airport Road, Rifle, CO. 81650
o CMC Spring Valley, Quigley Library, 3000 County Road 114, Glenwood Springs, CO. 81601
o CMC Spring Valley, Vet Tech, 3000 County Road 114, Glenwood Springs, CO. 81601
1.0 GENERAL INFORMATION:
1. All work shall be done in accordance with the current National Electrical Code (NEC) and building codes.
2. The preferred needlepoint bipolar ionization input voltage is the HVAC equipment’s 120 volts, 208-230 volts single-phase voltage. For HVAC equipment design for 277 volts, single-phase or 460 volts, 3 phase supply voltage, the contractor can wire the needlepoint bipolar ionization equipment to the Building Automation System 24 volts transformers. If the needlepoint bipolar ionization equipment is not design for 24 volts, the contractor is responsible to supply a properly sized transformer for each needlepoint bipolar ionization unit.
3. If the factory needlepoint bipolar equipment wiring is not long enough to wire to the HVAC equipment, the same wire gauge size and color of wire will be added to the factory wiring for proper installation. A butt connector sized for the wire gauge size is required for the wire splice.
4. If the factory needlepoint bipolar equipment BAS alarm wiring is not long enough to wire to the BAS controller located at the HVAC equipment, 18/2 cable can be used to extend the length of the BAS alarm wires. A butt connector sized for the wire gauge size is required for the wire splice.
5. Plastic zip ties are required to secure the needlepoint bipolar ionization wiring to the HVAC equipment. Wires must be routed with the HVAC equipment factory wires as clean as possible.
6. The Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work site for the duration of the project.
2.0 WARRANTY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Equipment shall be warranted by the manufacturer against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the owner acceptance. Labor to replace equipment under warranty shall be provided by the installing contractor.
