Summary of Specifications:
This Project addresses drainage issues in south Thornton, specifically the area located near Yucca Way and Eppinger Boulevard. Storm water drainage in this area is directed toward a narrow open concrete channel which often clogs with debris during storms. The frequent clogging causes localized flooding, which can be a risk to surrounding residents. This Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Project replaces the narrow concrete channel with an opening that more adequately captures the flow of storm water. This Project also includes: grading, removal of concrete cross pan, removal of curb and gutter, removal of existing concrete drainage channel, asphalt milling, a new 6’ wide 4” thick concrete sidewalk, concrete Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps, and landscaping. The existing open channel currently discharges into an existing detention pond. The new channel discharge will not be changed.
This Project is funded by a US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and CDBG administrated by Thornton. As such, the Contractor will need to conform to Davis Bacon Act prevailing wage provisions as identified in the wage determination for this area and to make an effort in awarding Work to Disadvantaged Business Entities (DBE’s). In addition, the Contractor shall track and submit reports to State and/or Federal agencies as identified in this Project Manual.
