Summary of Specifications:
The City of Longmont is seeking proposals from qualified graphic artists for design and layout services. The successful offeror will work with the city’s Public Information Officer to: • Design the overall look of the newsletter to reflect a positive image of the city, to provide a colorful and imaginative appearance, and to use photos, graphics and other design techniques to create an appealing, friendly and inviting look that reflects the Longmont community. Longmont’s strategic plan focuses on five specific strategies: promote a healthy business climate, support education as a community-wide value, enhance the natural environment, focus on Downtown, and promote community identity and cultural inclusion. (source: Focus on Longmont report, 2006). • Provide layout services for six issues throughout the year to be published at the end of February, April, June, August, October, and December. • The Public Information Officer, as the editor, will provide the copy, photos and other materials to the graphic artist who will be responsible for assembling materials into the 8-page newsletter. • The graphic artist will provide a proof to the Public Information Officer for final review. • The City of Longmont will retain ownership of all work product including graphic design output. As such, the graphic designer will provide the PIO with an electronic version of the newsletter for publication on the City’s website. • After final approval from the Public Information Officer, the graphic artist will provide design files to the printer according to printer specifications. • Although a copy of “The Littleton Report” is enclosed as a “model” for the type of newsletter sought by the City of Longmont, the Longmont newsletter should have its own unique appearance – possibly using art that is specifically designed for Longmont. In other word, the design should avoid the use of traditional clip art images often provided by on-line services.
