The City of Greenwood Village is looking for assistance in a comprehensive update to the Transportation Plan. The Plan will be a comprehensive analysis of current and future conditions that will impact the transportation system, it will establish goals and objectives for the transportation system, and it will provide innovative and context-specific strategies for improvement that account for all users, motorized and non-motorized. The goals and objectives will be derived from those in the Comprehensive Plan and recommendations for improvements should be informed by the previous findings from the 1998 Transportation Plan and the 2009 I-25 Corridor Transportation Improvement Study as well as the citizen engagement that will be completed throughout this project. The Village has identified the need for improvements at several interchanges and these processes are currently underway. Given that Greenwood Village has essentially been “built-out,” the Village needs to shift focus from building new transportation infrastructure to optimizing the infrastructure that is already in place. Some new infrastructure, such as missing pedestrian connections and previously identified key roadway connections, will need to remain as part of a plan going forward to improve connectivity. Non-infrastructure improvements should also be considered. These may include, but are not limited to, technology advancements, educational outreach, wayfinding, Transportation Demand Management strategies, etc. The Plan should focus on the future improvements to our existing system in order to increase mobility to all parts of the Village and extend throughout the larger region.
