Objective

The City of Fort Collins is requesting proposals from qualified Professional to provide consultant services - smart grid electric vehicle (EV) charge management.

Background

In 2023, the City of Fort Collins was awarded a SMART grant from Colorado Division of Transportation to assist in meeting the needs of the community to effectively expand its electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
As part of that award, the City has partnered with PANASONIC to utilize and pilot PANASONIC’s eFleet Solution of America (PEFSA) software. The software is a vendor agnostic tool, meaning that it can communicate with Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) from a variety of manufacturers. This will empower the City to select the Electric Vehicle Suitability Assessment (EVSA) that best suits the budget and operational needs, without the concern of being locked-in to certain OEMs or operations and maintenance challenges.
The PEFSA is a tool for use by both fleet operators and electric utilities to manage charging in a way that ensures maximum Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSA) choice, cost-effectiveness, interoperability, vendor agnosticism, open standards, and data collection. This approach will minimize the City’s total cost of ownership (TCO) of EVs while simultaneously benefiting electric grid operations.
Piloting the PEFSA software is fundamental to the SMART grant awarded the City.
