The Senac Creek Sanitary Sewer Interceptor will flow from the City of Aurora’s Senac Creek Lift Station located near the Binney Water Treatment facility to the north near the intersection of East Mississippi Avenue and Harvest Road. This interceptor will serve the new Southeast Aurora Maintenance (SEAM) site, eliminate the need for two lift stations, and provide a regional benefit to all the future Aurora developments north of the SEAM site. Due to market fluctuations and restricted budgets, the Senac Creek Sanitary Sewer Interceptor was broken out into phases.
Phase 1 of the sewer alignment was through the new SEAM site and performed with Saunders via the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) project delivery method and completed in late 2022. Constructing this portion of the sanitary sewer through the SEAM site helped to minimize delays to the building’s construction.
The remaining alignment is considered Phase 2 and is the purpose of this project. The Phase 2 work was further broken out into bid alternatives to allow for the market conditions to determine what work could be completed at this time. There is the potential the bid costs will be above budget to construct all of the remaining alignment. The bid alternatives allow staff the flexibility to construct as much as possible.
The base bid of the Phase 2 Senac Creek Interceptor includes the installation of 13,450 LF of 30-inch pipe. Bid Alternate 1 includes the installation of 6,002 LF of 30-inch pipe. Bid Alternate 2 includes the installation of 3,035 LF of 30-inch pipe and finally Bid Alternate 4 includes the installation of 4,017 LF of 30-inch pipe and tying in the Senac Creek Lift Station to the new gravity system.
