Landfill Ph 2 Cell 7 - Landfill Disposal Cell Construction - Phase 2 Cell 7 Construction

The Chaffee County Landfill, located in Salida, CO, is a Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) landfill that is owned and operated by Chaffee County (Owner). The County is required to construct a new disposal cell this year based on their current disposal rate. Cell 7 is 6.6 acres in size and is located upgradient of Phase 2 Cell 6, which means that a leachate sump is not required to  be constructed as a part of this project. The liner system for Cell 7 includes a geosynthetic clay liner and a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane. In addition to connecting to Cell 6, the cell  will also tie into Phase 1 of Cell 2, which is a compacted clay liner system. 
Chaffee County Government is soliciting bids for a contractor to purchase, deliver, and install the geosynthetics for the liner system, including the GCL, and geomembrane. In addition, the contractor  will be required to supply, deliver, and install turf reinforcement mat (TRM) for erosion control. The Contractor will also be responsible for supply and deliver the geotextile, which will be installed by the  Owner above a sand drainage layer in the base area of the cell. All sitework construction activities, including earthwork, will be performed by the Chaffee County Landfill and Chaffee County Road & Bridge Department Personnel.
