The County Community Planning and Natural Resources Department is soliciting proposals for a consultant/contractor to provide consulting, public engagement, and deliverables for Chaffee County Safer Roadways for All Action Plan (SAP) under the Federal Highway Administration’s Safe Streets for All (SS4A) initiative. The project should include all state and federal highways within Chaffee County and major and high-impact County roads.
Chaffee’s roadways support an incredible variety of users every day, including residents, regional commuters, multimodal recreationists, freight haulers, and thousands of tourists. 20-25% of all reported crashes involve out-of-state-drivers, with common themes reflecting both behavioral and environmental issues as contributing factors.
Integrating mitigation of vehicle-wildlife collisions (VWCs) will be a key element of the SAP. VWCs make up over 25% of the County’s traffic incidents, and a comparable portion of the SAP will be dedicated to reducing VWC-related safety concerns. ECO-resolutions, a Salida-based firm specializing in VWC mitigation efforts (https://eco-resolutions.com/), has been chosen by the County as the partner consultant for the SAP, with primary responsibility to address VWCs and provide analysis and recommendations for mitigating VWCs in Chaffee County. Any proposal must include ECO-resolutions as the contractor for the VWC element.
Responses to this Request for Proposal (RFP) will be used to identify qualified consultants to lead the Safety Action Plan Process.
