Description

This construction project is intended to rehabilitate the existing 360-foot long by 24-foot wide, six-span, prestressed concrete tee girder bridge carrying East 96th Avenue over Bijou Creek in eastern Adams County. The rehabilitation work has been divided into two separate construction projects with Phases 1 and 2 planned for 2019 and 2020, respectively. The County is currently soliciting bids for Phase 1 of the project. The Phase 1 work includes, but is not limited to, abutment repairs, such as replacement of girder bearings, realigning and repairing concrete pile caps, replacement of corrugated steel sheeting on a wingwall, and the construction of permanent tieback anchoring systems (deadmen); pier repairs, such as rehabilitation of girder bearings, concrete patching repairs, and the reinforcement of a steel pile/column; repair of deteriorated concrete at girder ends at the abutment and pier bearings; reconstruction of the gravel approach roadways; possible scour mitigation work, such as riprap construction or other; and site restoration and native seeding. Also included are construction traffic control; stormwater management and erosion control; public information system; and obtaining all necessary permits. The road will be closed to traffic at the bridge with a signed detour in place for the duration of the project.
