Project Description

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District and City of East Palo Alto have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to provide pedestrian access to the Bay Trail via a new solar powered automatic gate system at the end of Rutgers Street. The scope of work consists of the removal of an existing chain link fence; demolition of AC roadway pavement and concrete sidewalk; and installation of new security fencing, solar powered automatic gate system, chain link fence, bioretention basin, signage, and pavement markings.

Project Location
The Project site is located at the northern terminus of Rutgers Street in East Palo Alto, at the intersection with the Bay Trail right-of-way.

Project Schedule

Award of Contract is anticipated to occur on August 27, 2025. On site activities cannot commence prior to contractor submitting all pre-construction submittal requirements. On-site construction activities are anticipated to take approximately 4 weeks.

Project Budget

The project engineer’s estimate is $80,000.
