The Wyoming Army National Guard (WYARNG) has a requirement for Counseling Services for a one year base and four one-year option periods. The Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) will serve a vital role in supporting the WYARNG mission. As a contractor the BHP will provide Behavioral Health (BH) skills crucial to support state and federal operational readiness requirements. Strategically positioned at the Medical Detachment level, the BHP will assist in building, sustaining, restoring, and enhancing the psychological well-being of the WYARNG community across a wide range of programs and services available to military members and their families. The BHP will evaluate and monitor the BH status of WYARNG personnel and immediate family members in accordance with military regulations. The goal is to identify and provide appropriate BH care for service members suffering from BH related difficulties. Additionally, the BHP will identify and monitor those considered “at-risk” for developing BH problems in the future. When problems are identified, the BHP will be charged with understanding the nature of the problems, connecting with the individual, understanding the problems, providing psychological support commensurate within the BHP’s clinical scope of practice, connecting the service member with additional resources, monitoring the service member’s compliance with treatment recommendations and reporting status of service members requiring support. The BHP will work closely with military BH and medical administrative professionals to ensure compliance with military regulations and WYARNG medical profiling requirements.
