SCOPE Western Technical College prides itself on staying in touch with industry changes, trends and advancements, which is why we are looking to add virtual reality into our law enforcement and jail academy trainings. Virtual reality gives both students and instructors a way to train and learn in a safe environment with simulated firearms and non-lethal options. Virtual reality also gives students scenarios in de-escalation, negations, mental illness along with many other potential situations that the student may encounter during their career in law enforcement. Virtual reality training has proven methods of learning that current and upcoming generations adapt to very well and enhances their overall understanding and retention. This system will also allow for multiple students and instructors to be in a single virtual environment at the same time as both learners and actors. SPECIFICATIONS: The virtual reality software system must include the following: • Allow at least 8 or more users in a virtual environment at a time. • Room space needed 100 x 100 or less. • Tablet driven. • Local Area Network (LAN) functionality without the need for Wi-Fi. • Ability to have “live actors” as suspects. • The ability to create or sketch your own environment to mirror current rooms/facilities. • Training tools to include (non-real) handguns, rifle, taser, pepper spray along with VR headset and hand controllers. • Must be a mobile system that can be used in any area/building/room that meets minimum requirements. • Protective carrying cases included. • Warranty
