Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. TYPE: The Rock Salt (Sodium Chloride) shall conform to American Society of Testing Materials Specification, Designation D-632-5.1.1 (Type 1, Grade 1) when tested by means of laboratory sieves as follows: % by weight of Sieve Size Percentage Passing 3/4 inch 100 1/2 inch 98 to 100 3/8 inch 95 to 100 No. 4 20 to 90 No. 8 10 to 60 No. 30 0 to 5 Salt must have greater than or equal to 95% sodium chloride content. A Chemical Analysis Sheet listing the ingredients and percentages of each for the salt shall be provided with the bid. B. STOCK: Shall be freshly mined stock. C. TREATMENT: Shall be treated with a non-caking agent to keep it free flowing. D. TEST: A test of salt delivered under the contract will be made from time to time, and any which does not conform to the bid specifications or contains stones, cinders, broken asphalt, concrete or any other foreign matter will be returned to the contractor at its expense. In this event, the cost of testing shall also be borne by the contractor. E. REJECTION: The City reserves the right to reject loads of salt with excess caking or >2% moisture content as determined by the City of Milwaukee.
