Specifications include, but are not limited to: HIGH SPEED RUNWAY BROOM CARRIER VEHICLE: The term carrier vehicle represents the various self-propelled prime movers that provide the power necessary for the snow removal and ice control equipment to move snow, slush, ice, and other debris from the pavement during winter operations. The unit shall be self-propelled and consist of the necessary chassis configuration to provide the required maneuverability. The carrier vehicle shall meet or exceed the design intent of the system requirements in this specification.; 4.2.1 The equipment shall have the ability to remove snow, ice, slush, sand, and other debris at rated speeds of 30 MPH or faster, depending on conditions. The equipment shall have a minimum forward transport speed of 40 mph on level, dry pavement. Test procedures and airport/vendor obligations are listed at the end of this section.; 4.2.2 The design of this unit shall ensure positive tire-to-ground tractive effort while operating and performing full wall-to-wall turning diameter of 75 feet or less with broom attachment. The vehicle shall be equipped with all-wheel drive, consisting of a minimum of two driving axles, and all-wheel steering.; 4.2.3 The performance requirements are based on snow with a density of 15 to 40 pounds per cubic foot for the test to be considered valid with a designed speed of 30 MPH. ; HIGH SPEED FRONT MOUNT RUNWAY BROOM WITH AIRBLAST: This specification covers various requirements for airport runway brooms with airblast for configuration with a carrier vehicle. Runway brooms are primarily used to move and clear snow and ice down to bare pavement on airport operational areas such as runways, taxiways, and ramp areas. ; The broom shall have the ability to remove snow, ice, slush, sand and other debris at the rated speed, capacity, and conditions per the following: Broom configuration: Front Mounted; Required speed of operation: 30 MPH; Brush swept path: 18.0 feet (Brush head width: 22.0 feet); Snow moving capacity: 4,752 TPH; Surface area swept rate: 2,280,960 sq. ft/hr; Broom power supply horsepower: 495 HP (dedicated engine); Brush diameter: 46 inches; Brush rotation speed: 0-525 RPM
