Specifications include, but are not limited to: To be competitive in the 21st century, broadband access is essential. Brown County views Internet access as a prerequisite core service, like water, electricity and gas. Internet access is critical to: grow business, improve education, deliver healthcare and provide an equal opportunity for success across all communities. Brown County’s seeks to improve rural and urban broadband access. Currently, urban residents have fair to good internet, but some rural residents have poor to no service. The goal of the RFI is to examine ways to eliminate the digital divide between urban and rural areas along with enhanced broadband needed to attract residents and businesses to Brown County. The RFI may or may not be used to select a single or multiple County broadband partner. Brown County is requesting information to prepare for possible HR1319 ARPA (American Recovery Plan Act) funding pending Board and Executive approval, and other possible state and federal grants.
