Specifications include, but are not limited to: 5.2.1 General A. The system shall display in English units and provide use in various applications (dust control dispensing water, Highway Maintenance for dispensing salt brine) B. System will incorporate a warning system showing the operator when the tank is empty. C. The control system will come with a cab mount that will securely mount in the Highway Departments Tractor. Using electric over Hydraulic or electric over air to control all functions of the brine and dust control operations. D. All connections for the control between the towing truck and trailer be quick connect and disconnect. Allowing for transfer to another vehicle without incapacitating a vehicle. 5.2.2 Salt Brine Dispensing A. Unit capable of operating in full automatic mode controlled by ground B. The system show status indicators for each boom section left right and center. C. Control system shall incorporate controls /adjustments for the following actions: Rate, Flow, Blast Mode, Auto/Manual Mode, Boom Control, and calibration. Located on an operator friendly dash mounted display. D. Control system capable of being easily calibrated without additional tools or hardware. E. System will incorporate a flow meter to accurately measure amount of brine liquid applied. F. Brine system will use a ground speed system separate of the truck such as Radar. G. System capable of maintaining at a minimum of 65 Gallons Per Lane Mile for 3 lanes at 45 MPH. H. Pump will be designed to withstand salt-solutions with suspended solids or abrasives and be able to operate at temperatures from -40 F. degrees to 140 degrees F. I. Pump shall be designed to pump liquids with a specific gravity of 1.9. J. Solenoid valves used to control the flow to the various spray bars shall be constructed of nylon or polypropylene. Valves will be manifold type and bolted or clamped together. All components of the valves will be impervious to the effects of the liquid melting agent used for winter maintenance. K. Solenoid valves mounted to top of rear bumper cover to provide accessibility at ground level. speed or manual mode. L. Spray bar minimum quantity 1 per lane mile shall be 8- feet in width from center lane and 18-inch for side lanes. Spray booms shall be constructed of stainless steel with threaded type nozzles mounted into a ball and socket top swivel to allow for nozzle aiming and adjustment. M. Spray bar have adjustable height from 12 inches to 24 inches with jet type nozzles. N. Spray bar shall have removable threaded caps on all ends for cleanout. O. No spray bars shall extend beyond the legal width of the truck. 5.2.3 Dust Control System A. Three B/Mc type nozzle or equivalent mounted in the rear of the tanker and one on each side of the tanker at a minimum height of 8 feet, not protruding above the tanker B. Capable of spraying 3 B/Mc type nozzles or equivalent at a continuous rate of 60 PSI. System size, motor, pumps, etc. must be designed accordingly. 5.2.4 Engine, Engine Compartment Pump A. Product pump be a self-contained stainless -steel, self priming, centrifugal type pump powered by a diesel power pony engine. Engine will be sized accordingly to run the brine and dust control system at the recommended operating RPM of the engine. B. Optional engine remote start capability, with the switch located on the control panel in the truck cab. Engine will also have the capability to start at the engine. D. The engine shall have a fuel tank size capable of allowing the engine to run at operating RPM for a minimum of 8 hours run time before requiring refueling. G. Hydraulic tank sized for hydraulic pumps and motors installed on the system. Reservoir has a sight glass, suctions strainer, and a 10 micron inline return filter. Hydraulic filter be mounted to allow servicing without having to drain system. H. Hydraulic pump be load sensing with a closed center proportional control valve with relief be mounted on the power unit. I. The pump and engine shall be securely mounted in an area that will not be impacted by debris and road spray yet is easily serviced and maintained. J. Unit shall have a structure to contain the enclosed components. This enclosure will offer protection from the elements yet allow for all ventilation and intake/exhaust needs. 5.2.5 Electrical A. Wiring and harness shall meet ISO rating IP68 and NEMA 6. B. Connectors shall be zinc die cast Ecoated similar to a MIL spec connector. Connectors shall be designed to have No Corrosion after 500 hours in a 35C salt spray. C. Cabling, connectors shall be rated for resistance to oxidation, heat, oil, weather, abrasion, water, fuels. D. Unit equipped with a minimum of two LED type strobe lights on rear of unit and a minimum of two LED type work lights mounted on rear of unit. All lights controlled by switch in cab of truck. 5.2.6 Ground Fill System A. There shall be a 3 inch cam lock (male End) ground fill system The system shall be mid-point with connections on both sides. B. There shall be a gravity drain 3 inch cam lock acceptable to plump into fill system. 5.2.7 Plumbing A. All plumbing shall be constructed in a manner to avoid road splash/debris and be properly secured. C. There shall be a minimum 3 inch suction strainer with a stainless steel # 30 mesh screen. D. All tank fittings be constructed of 304L scheduled 40 stainless steel and welded with stainless steel wires. E. All tank fittings shall have shut off valves that can be manually closed. All hose fittings constructed of stainless steel or reinforced polypropylene.
