This contract is for PLSS corner maintenance and perpetuation of section corner and quarter corner locations identified as part of the county wide maintenance program. Each corner listed in Package “A” and “B” shall have a monument, cast iron, stone, or equivalent and four witness ties. New witness ties shall be 1” x 30” rebar. Existing corner monuments that are accepted may be left in place if the existing monument is durable and metal. Pk-nails, survey nails/spikes, cotton gin spikes, etc., are not acceptable monuments. Information must be provided from the accepted monument shown on the tie sheet of record, cast iron monument/stone. Asphalt surfaces must be patched and a Berntsen Nail, SNM1 or equivalent, must be set above the accepted monument on top of the asphalt surface and flush with the surface. Stone monuments found and accepted must have a metal monument placed beside or over the top of the stone if practical. All witness ties must be set flush with the ground. Existing ties may be left in place if they are situated in a safe location and in good condition. Existing ties that are accepted should be adjusted to be flush with the ground. Power and telephone poles are not to be used and are unacceptable.
