University of Wisconsin-Madison requests quotes for the purchase of an optical fiber assembly to be implemented as a part of a Beam Emission Spectroscopy diagnostic. Specifications of custom fiber assembly for W7X-BES; Specifications include, but are not limited to: Quantity: 64 or 80 fibers in a single assembly; Overall length: 8.0 m (The length of individual fiber tails can vary within the overall length tolerance in the drawing.) Temperature requirement for the glue at the ‘machine-end’: to +250oC; ‘Machine-end’ ferrule: 8x8 or 8x10 fiber array with buffer stripped back behind the ferrule, so the fibers are epoxied in place cladding-to-cladding. Fibers are on the common surface in the center of an aluminum square ferrule (30 mm x 30 mm, length = 200 mm). Fiber epoxy requires a good stiffness and durability, and thermo-stable under 160oC.
