Specifications include, but are not limited to: Clearing of snow and ice on city sidewalks, crosswalks, and bus stops in designated areas throughout the City of Sun Prairie. This contract will be for three snow seasons starting with the 2022-2023 snow season and ending April 1, 2025, with the option to extend for another 3 years with mutual agreement on terms and cost. The expectation is all sidewalks, crosswalks, and bus stops will be free and clear of any snow and ice that may have accumulated on the surfaces that could cause a slip and fall hazard. The process and equipment used for the removal of the snow should leave bare pavement but not cause damage to the surface. The removal and treatment of excessive ice shall be accomplished by the use of an ice melting agent such as rock salt or a chloride type product that is safe on all surfaces it will be applied to. The contractor is expected to clear the snow and excessive ice from the surfaces within 24 hours of the ending of the snow or ice event. Each snow or ice event will count as one event and will be billed and paid as one event operation. The contractor will be paid based on each snow or ice event regardless of how many times they choose to clear or treat the area during and after the event. The official snow fall total amount used for billing will be determined by what is officially reported by the National Weather Service for the City of Sun Prairie. If there is no official City of Sun Prairie report from the National Weather Service, the official snow fall total report from Weather Command will be used. This is a professional forecasting company the city contracts with and provides this data to the City after every snow or ice event. A copy of this report will be shared with the contractor for verification if it is used.
