The project area encompasses approximately ¾ of a mile (9 blocks) of N. Oakland Avenue from the intersection of E. Capitol Drive to approximately the north Village limits. The area includes the Village’s primary business district, which ranges from a big-box grocery store and national retailers to small-scale local shops and restaurants and generates high volumes of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Numerous multiunit and mixed-use residential buildings are also located along the corridor. The Shorewood Business Improvement District serves the business community by providing marketing and general resources and planning local events. They are expected to be a key stakeholder for purposes of engagement on this project. The work incorporates roadway, water distribution system, and storm sewer improvements including an estimated: • 20,280 SY 8” concrete pavement • 19,500 SF of concrete sidewalk • 450 LF of 12” storm sewer • 5,075 LF of 6-12” PVC watermain • 66 water services, including 45 private lead service line replacements • street tree removals and replacement (30) • 22,350 LF pavement marking
