Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. All items must be received, processed and delivered under the most sanitary conditions. Standards of the State of West Virginia for content and handling must be maintained during the contract period. All items will be subject to inspection by the Health Department at any time. A copy of the report of the most recent state or city analysis of milk fat, bacteria count and other pertinent data must be furnished upon request. B. Random samples of milk to verify butterfat, volume, nutritional content and conformity with the vendor’s retail products sold in the area may be taken by the District to an independent State approved laboratory for analysis as deemed necessary at the expense of the District. If conditions warrant and the District requests additional tests, these tests shall be taken and the expense borne by the vendor. C. The vendor shall furnish in writing a schedule listing the estimated delivery times for each school or location. The District shall provide access door keys to each school. Security alarm codes will be provided to the vendor’s delivery personnel on an as needed basis. The vendor is responsible for assuring all keys/key fobs and alarm codes are kept in a secure place. The District shall deny the vendor any school keys/key fobs or alarm codes in the event the delivery personnel fail to properly disarm the alarm upon entry, properly secure the building upon exiting, travel outside the cafeteria into the school building for unauthorized purposes and or enter the building for any purpose other than making a delivery. Product Specifications: A. Fluid milk and milk products shall be manufactured and packaged as defined in the “Regulation Governing the Productions and Sales of Milk and Milk Products,” as published by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture. Milk and milk products shall be pasteurized, homogenized, and vitamin fortified. B. All milk and juice shall be delivered in plastic cases or shrink wrapped boxes. The cases are to be clean at all times, and the delivery vehicle shall be maintained in excellent sanitary condition, and shall be subject to inspection by Food Service employees and representatives of the County Health Department. Any unsatisfactory conditions shall be immediately corrected. C. The District requests the vendor provide the following products in half pint (8 oz) paper cartons: Low fat (1%) white milk Fat Free (.5%) chocolate flavored milk Fat Free (.5%) strawberry flavored milk Fat Free (.5%) skim white milk D. The District requests the vendor provide the following products in gallon plastic bottle container: Low fat (1%) white milk E. The District requests the vendor provide the following full strength 100% juice products in 4 ounce containers: Orange juice Apple juice F. The District requests the vendor provide other dairy products: 100% Lactose Free Low Fat Milk in quart size 1% Low Fat Cottage Cheese in 5 lb container G. The District requests half pint and pint products in paper cartons unless the volume does not allow production in the cartons. The RFPs includes products in containers other than half pint and pint size that are used in small volumes. Further packaging specifications are provided within this document.
