Specifications include, but are not limited to: Excavate and install one 2” agricultural water lines from the new WVAWC tap near the parking garage to the new contractor provided in ground junction box. Backfill shall comply with the following, a 4- inch layer of fine sand shall be placed and tamped in the trench to provide a uniform bedding for the system. The backfill over the piping shall be of the selected materials and shall be placed by hand in 6" layers and tamped to a minimum distance of 18" over the top of the pipe. The backfill material shall be compacted to 95 percent density. Do not use frozen fill, sod, cinders, slate, or stones as backfill. Do not compact the backfill with heavy wheeled or tracked equipment. The Contractor shall be responsible for protecting new and existing lines. Backfilling of the trench shall be carried on simultaneously on both sides of the conduit and pipe in such a manner that unequal or unbalanced side pressures do not occur. Conduit shall be installed on a sand base for uniform pipe support and to prevent unequal settlement. Also provide a minimum of 6 inches of pea gravel or crushed limestone envelope completely around the sides and above the conduit. Slag in any form will not be permitted.
